program description
philosophy helps students explore a wide range of questions from a variety of different positions. ask the big questions, and accept there are no easy answers. philosophy ponders questions about meaning, truth, ethics, art, citizenship, and freedom that define who one is as an individual and leads people to a clearer sense of their role in society.
philosophy is available as a major, double major, or minor within the bachelor of arts. students can explore the major philosophies of the past and engage with the issues and major questions of today.
philosophy students learn to study, challenge, and develop complex intellectual positions. they learn to express their own ideas in clear and compelling language. students will hone logic and reasoning skills in discussions surrounding contentious issues such as euthanasia, cloning and censorship.
