the integrated masters in mathematics with spanish lets students follow their twin passions with this mathematics with spanish degree at the university of sheffield.
graduates will spend around two thirds of their time on maths, one third studying spanish language and culture. beginning with the essentials they will need for the rest of their degree – including calculus, algebra and data science – they will go on to develop programming skills using python and r, and learn to present their work as a professional mathematician using latex.
in spanish studies, students will have seminars and weekly meetings with a native speaker, completing a project and presentation in spanish.
year two will see graduates taking on increasingly complex problems. they will choose whether they want to focus on pure maths, or applied topics that are useful in industries like finance. there is also time dedicated for them to prepare for their year abroad – which they will spend studying maths at one of the university of sheffield's partner universities in france.
