through the bachelor of laws (llb) law with chinese law students will learn about chinese law, culture and business, how to advise clients, resolve disputes and conduct legal transactions.
in the first year, graduates will study the foundations of legal knowledge, giving them a strong grounding in the key areas of english law as well as gaining an introduction to comparative law. they will also learn basic mandarin language skills in listening, reading, speaking and writing.
students will focus on the chinese legal system and political culture of china in the second year, which will prepare them for more in-depth study of chinese law subjects in their year abroad. in the third year they will study chinese law in english at one of the university of sheffield's partner universities in china, before returning to sheffield in the final year where they can build their degree around their passions and career aspirations – choosing from modules like international trade law, immigration & asylum law and policing in a global context.
