the four-year integrated masters in chemistry is the best route if applicants are planning their career in scientific research, a doctor of philosophy (phd) and an academic career. accredited by the royal society for chemistry, this course builds from fundamentals to a final year spent mostly working on their own project, as part of a team of research scientists.
students' lectures are supported by small group tutorials, where they can delve deeper into complex topics. these small group teaching sessions are led by their personal tutor in first year, and specialists in years two and three, when they will explore chemistries environmental, computational, biological and medicinal – plus advanced materials and nanotechnology.
in the fourth year graduates will have an opportunity to develop their research skills through advanced study, and in a research project – where they will join a team working on new discoveries, before graduating, primed for an exciting career.
