the steps toward a career as an occupational therapist begin by taking the required pre-ot courses, completing an undergraduate degree, and gaining the required clinical experience. common prerequisite courses include anatomy, physiology, chemistry, biology, general psychology, abnormal psychology, developmental psychology, statistics, and sociology/anthropology. common pre-ot majors include psychology, biology, and exercise science. students will also need to seek out volunteer opportunities to shadow occupational therapists and to gain clinical experience.

completing these steps are prerequisites for applying to either a master's or doctoral occupational therapy (ot) program.
