the bachelor of science in financial mathematics is jointly delivered by the university of sheffield school of mathematics and statistics, the department of economics and the management school, teaches the numerical skills and specialist knowledge students need for their career in finance.
the first year is about giving graduates the best possible grounding with maths essentials and finance-specific topics, enabling they to make an informed choice between following an economics or finance pathway. in the year two they unlock more advanced topics in economics or finance, such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics and corporate finance.
by third year, students will have the skills, knowledge and experience to go in lots of different directions in finance and mathematics. the university of sheffield give them lots of optional modules to choose from, so they can study the topics that are most useful to the career path they want to take, or that they enjoy the most.
