this degree is similar to the four-year ba modern languages course, but does not include a year abroad.
students will choose to study up to three of our core languages:
- french
- german
- italian
- spanish
these languages are offered at intermediate and advanced level. this program also allows you to combine up to two core languages with one or two of our additional languages. choose from arabic, british sign language, chinese (mandarin), japanese, modern greek or russian (subject to availability).
students will spend eight weeks in a language-rich environment to expand their language skills and develop their intercultural understanding of their language(s). the placement can be taken as one eight-week block or in separate installments throughout the degree.
alongside their core language modules, students will also study cultural modules to enhance their understanding of the countries in which the language is spoken. the number of cultural modules students take will depend on whether they are specializing in one specific language, or combining two or three core languages.
