Progression Summary

program description

designed specifically for those interested in the investigative side of forensics, this course deals with the theoretical and practical aspects of forensic investigation of crime scenes and disaster investigations, and is accredited by the chartered society of forensic sciences.

forensic investigation is a wide-ranging and compelling subject, drawing principally from scientific methods and practical training within criminal investigation. covering biological and analytical science, this degree provides an understanding and knowledge of key concepts in relevant law, professional skills, crime scenes and forensic sciences.

year one is shared with students taking bsc (hons) forensic science, so should students discover the scientific aspects of the course to be more appealing, there is the option to switch degrees at the end of the year. in the second and final year, students will custom build their curriculum; selecting options that bring their education in line with their interests and career goals. to lend valuable real world experience to their resume, students will undertake a 5 or 30-week work placement in year three, depending on the length of the course they choose. this is the perfect outlet to put the theory and techniques learnt on campus into practice, plus meet career contacts that may help students once they graduate.
