study a modern language, and apply key economic analysis skills to international issues, with university of reading's modern languages and economics degree. this highly flexible degree enables students to study a modern language – choosing from core languages of french, german, italian and spanish – alongside your studies in economics.
taught by experts from the department of languages and cultures and the department of economics, students will acquire transferable skills with an international focus. throughout, they’ll be encouraged to follow their interests as they develop and tailor their learning to their career goals.
between the second and final year, students will spend a year abroad to expand their linguistic skills and intercultural understanding. students can choose to study at a partner university, go on a work placement, or work as a language teaching assistant.
