the university developed the uk’s first degree in podiatry and is proud of its track record in teaching and research. podiatrists are specialist health professionals who care for patients with foot and lower limb complaints, helping them to maintain their health and wellbeing through podiatric treatment, minor surgery, orthotics, exercise, and education. podiatry is a highly flexible, rewarding, and varied profession. this accredited course offers internal placements at the university’s own leaf hospital, enabling students to see patients from the first year. they will accumulate 1,000 hours of clinical practice, giving them essential experience of working with nhs patients and managing their own caseload before qualifying as a podiatrist. they will also undertake their own research.

studying podiatry at the university offers the opportunity to work in specialist disciplines, with optional modules including diabetes care, musculoskeletal practice, and rheumatology.

upon graduation from the course, students will be eligible for professional registration and fully prepared to begin their career as a podiatrist.
