Progression Summary

program description

as society relies more on technology as a part of everyday life, there is an increasing demand for people with the skills to update, maintain and improve the software people depend on. on this chartered institute for it (bcs) accredited course, students will use their creativity and problem solving skills to learn how to apply software development principles to develop innovative solutions to real world problems.

in addition to core computing skills, students will gain experience of using a variety of programming languages and frameworks to develop technical systems. students will also explore how to design software systems so they can be easily maintained and evaluated to ensure they match user and organisational requirements.

this is one of eight undergraduate computing courses offered at bu. as bu understands that it can be difficult to know what area students would like to specialize in, all of these courses share a common first year, giving students the time to really explore the subject before deciding on a specialism. they only need to apply for one of the courses in the framework and students will have the opportunity to change their final degree title during their study.
