this programme equips students with a robust understanding of accounting and business management including management accounting, financial management, entrepreneurship, strategic planning, business law, marketing, and the international business environment. students will learn valuable transferable technical skills along the way including numerical analytical methods and get hands on experience of industry standard accounting and software packages.
there is the option to take a year’s work placement between the second and third year. previous employers have included adidas, microsoft, british airways, pwc and nissan.
on successful conclusion of degree this combination of technical, analytical and interpersonal skills will make students highly attractive to potential employers. they will be well equipped to work in multidisciplinary business teams facing real business challenges in areas as diverse as, management consulting, business development, innovation, accountancy, public finance and entrepreneurship, within the uk and internationally.
this degree course has international accreditation from the following six professional accounting bodies:
1) acca (association of chartered certified accountants)
2) cima (chartered institute of management accountants)
3) icaew (institute of chartered accountants in england and wales)
4) cipfa (chartered institute of public finance accountancy)
5) aia (association of international accountants)
6) cpa australia (certified practising accountant)
these accreditations attest to the relevance and rigour of brunel's curriculum. brunel have particularly good exemptions from acca; they hold all nine possible exemptions. on graduation, if students have passed certain modules, they will gain exemptions from several of their professional papers. so students will be part-qualified and will just sit final exams and gain some professional experience to qualify as an accountant.
professional accounting bodies highly regard brunel's degree programme; according to the chartered institute of management accountants brunel graduates have a higher than average pass rate in both the accounting and management exam streams.
