students who have a wide variety of interests, honours arts gives them the freedom to explore it.

in the university of waterloo's largest and most flexible first-year program, students will use their first two terms to test the waters. sample courses from the humanities, social sciences, fine and performing arts, and languages and cultures. students can discover subjects they weren’t exposed to in high school, or delve deeper into their favourite subject at the university level.

honours arts will give students the critical thinking skills to analyze issues, make persuasive arguments, write well, and speak with conviction — skills that will serve them well along any career path.

this is a program where students will wrestle with pressing questions — and develop the tools to create solutions to local and global challenges.

 

students will explore topics such as age, class, ethnicity, religion, gender, criminality, education, work, social change, and politics. and when students study sociology at the university of waterloo, they will learn from leading experts committed to creating an outstanding classroom experience, ranked in the top 100 in the world. (shanghai world university rankings 2020).

 

as a sociologist, students will find career opportunities in a wide range of fields, including government, the financial sector, health, policy and research, law, academia, policing, and non-profit organizations. students who want to explore them early they can start by enrolling in the co-op stream and gaining up to two years of work experience prior to graduating.
