the interdisciplinary program explores the massive social and cultural changes in central and east european countries that have dominated the world's attention. students will study literature, cinema, languages and cultures of the region, state formation and democratization, privatization, new market economies and more.

the central and east european studies program is interdisciplinary, offering courses from several departments that explore past and present issues in the area. the program brings together students and faculty in disciplines such as economics, fine arts, german and slavic studies, history, political studies and religion.
