studying with the english and creative writing department at twu also offers you the opportunity to develop your own creative writing skills, whether you want to learn how to write non-fiction, short stories, novels, poetry, plays, or songs. all english courses will help you to become a better writer: our professors are passionate about working with you one-on-one to develop your analytical, writing, and editing skills.

when you earn a bachelor of arts with a major in english, you will read the classic writers of literature in english, such as john milton, william shakespeare, jane austen, nathanial hawthorne, and margaret atwood. you can also choose to experience writers such as c.s. lewis, j.r.r. tolkien, j.k. rowling and l.m. montgomery in our popular courses on fantasy literature and children's literature.

in addition to an english major, concentration, or minor, the english and creative writing department offers an honours program for students of high academic standing who wish to study english and creative writing in greater depth. the honours program also prepares students for pursuing a master's degree at graduate school.
