the physics department currently offers 3 master of sciences programs:

1. optics and materials: the physics department at cleveland state university offers a m.s. degree in physics with an emphasis on optics and materials designed for scientists and engineers who wish to develop competence in these rapidly advancing fields. 
   
   
2. optics and medical imaging: the physics department of cleveland state university offers a m.s. degree in physics, with an emphasis on optics and medical imaging designed for scientists and engineers who wish to develop competence in contemporary optics and modern imaging techniques.
   
   
3. medical physics: the physics department and the departments of radiation oncology and diagnostic radiology at the cleveland clinic have collaborated since 1999 to offer the ms degree in physics with medical physics specialization. it is the only program of its kind in northeast ohio.
