heriot-watt university is ranked 2nd in scotland and 12th in the uk for european languages (the national student survey 2014). 90% of graduates from our languages programmes are in a professional or managerial position within six months. the programme offers you the opportunity to specialise in one main language but also to study a second (and third) language. you can also study subjects such as business management, psychology and economics. you will complete two placements during your year abroad, one per language studied, in countries where your languages of study are spoken. this will provide you with a wide variety of practical skills, plus a sound knowledge of the european union and international current affairs.
