the wellbeing of children and young people concerns us all. how can we improve their experience and make a positive difference to their future? on this course, you’ll gain an overview of current issues in child psychology. across the key areas of education/school, home/family and mental health, you’ll explore current policies and their limitations. you’ll: - find out how psychological research can help us understand and support our practices - learn about specific influences on children’s learning and wellbeing, including the role of intervention and preventative approaches - develop an understanding of professional practice frameworks - explore the broad theoretical perspectives relevant to applied child psychology - gain skills in research design, analysis and ethics. you’ll be based in the school of psychology. our research-practitioner approach to teaching is designed to prepare you for your work environment. you’ll have the opportunity to work with data from real-life applied psychology practice to experience casework first-hand. when you graduate, you’ll be familiar with research, theory and applied practice, so you can make your contribution to supporting children and young people. we understand that deciding where and what to study is a very important decision. we’ll make all reasonable efforts to provide you with the courses, services and facilities described in this prospectus. however, if we need to make material changes, for example due to government or regulatory requirements, or unanticipated staff changes, we’ll let you know as soon as possible.
