Accounting and Management
Progression Summary
Combine your interests in management and accountancy through this multidisciplinary degree and gain a strong grounding both. This degree is run by our Henley Business School, which currently ranks 15th in the UK for Accounting and Finance (Complete University Guide, 2018). The complementary nature of these two areas will equip you with both an accounting and business perspective and a sense of commercial awareness that will be immediately transferable to the business environment. The accountancy element covers the core areas of financial reporting, management accounting and business finance. You will learn how to analyse and interpret information, spot trends, identify issues and opportunities, and communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner. The management element will enable you to explore areas such as marketing, organisational behaviour, strategy, information systems, human resource management, entrepreneurship and ethics. You will also get to explore factors, both internal and external to an organisation, that can influence and impact on its success. You will continue to study the core areas of accounting in your second and final years, while the management element will enable you to tailor your degree towards your own interests by exploring areas such as marketing, organisational behaviour, strategy, information systems, human resource management, entrepreneurship and ethics. If you want to go on to a career in accounting, it is worth noting that certain modules on this degree are professionally accredited. This means you can claim exemptions from professional accountancy exams in the future if you achieve the required grades. **Careers** The Henley Business School has a dedicated careers team to provide its students with expert advice and guidance – from running workshops on CVs, application forms and interview training to helping choose the right industry placement.
