printmaking as a fine art discipline is firmly established within a long history of image making, technological advancements and political contexts. ma fine art: printmaking at camberwell college of arts encourages you to approach practical making through a critical lens, establishing clear connections between creating and thinking.    using camberwell’s extensive print workshops, you’ll be able to advance your practical skills and professional knowledge across a range of analogue and digital print processes. you’ll also have use of wider college workshop resources. you’ll work alongside your peers, academic staff, visiting artists and researchers across workshops and studios. this creates a space to celebrate the cultural diversity and inclusivity of print, as well as its ability to continually provoke questions about the world we live in.   alongside this, we support you to connect with the wider local, national and international print network, enabling you to consider next steps in your future career.   what to expect: developing your practice: independent studio and workshop-based learning and material investigation supported by tutorial guidance, technical instruction and peer review.  critical reflection: the course will support you in the advancement of your critical analysis and reflection skills and your ability to synthesise conceptual and practical knowledge through tutorials, seminars, group crits, reading groups, workshops and lectures.  technical workshops: you’ll have access to camberwell’s extensive specialist printmaking workshops including etching, lithography, screen, relief, and letterpress, alongside the digital workshops including large format printing, laser cutting and 3d printing. you can also access other college resources such as digital fabrication, wood, ceramics and metal workshops. view the camberwell facilities.  a sense of community: you’ll take part in a wide range of group teaching and learning activities, visits, exhibitions and peer-led projects both with students from within ma printmaking and camberwell’s other ma fine art pathways.  enterprise and employability: the professional toolkit programme of talks and workshops gives you the knowledge and creative attributes needed to prepare for the future to sustain a rewarding professional life. showcase your work: there will be opportunities to show and discuss your work and research through exhibitions and other public-facing events.  social, cultural and ethical contexts: you’ll explore key historical and contemporary discourses and debates surrounding printmaking, fine art and wider culture including narratives of climate, racial and social justice.  support: your learning will be aided by a range of university support services depending on your needs. this includes academic support, disability services, language support, library services and careers and employability.  industry experience and opportunities the course will develop your skills in creative leadership, problem-solving, collaboration, resourcefulness and communication. you’ll also learn how to sustain open-ended lines of enquiry, an essential skill in any professional setting.  you’ll have opportunities to showcase your practice such as organising and participating in public events and exhibitions. a programme of talks and workshops (the professional toolkit) will help you identify which part of the art world or wider creative industries that you would like to contribute to after graduation.  mode of study ma fine art: printmaking is offered in full-time mode and runs for 45 weeks over 15 months. you will be expected to commit an average of 40 hours per week to your course, including teaching hours and independent study.
