swinburne foundation year (design) (8 months) is a pre-university program for international students. it is designed to help students meet the entry requirements for first-year university or progress to a unilink diploma. students will develop fundamental communication, information technology (it) and mathematics skills. they will also get an introduction to specialised areas such drawing, illustration and graphic design. it provides an overview of the historical and contextual basis for design as well as providing an introduction to the practical skills and the aesthetic engagement required of a designer.
the diploma of design (unilink) (8 months) is a higher education diploma which provides an alternative pathway to a bachelor degree. it includes study in digital, interactive and 3d design. the units are similar bachelor degree units, but classes are smaller and students have more one-on-one time with teachers. students extend their creative and practical design skills and develop a modern approach to the role of design in society.
