students who have a wide variety of interests, honours arts gives them the freedom to explore it.
in the university of waterloo's largest and most flexible first-year program, students will use their first two terms to test the waters. sample courses from the humanities, social sciences, fine and performing arts, and languages and cultures. students can discover subjects they weren’t exposed to in high school, or delve deeper into their favourite subject at the university level.
honours arts will give students the critical thinking skills to analyze issues, make persuasive arguments, write well, and speak with conviction — skills that will serve them well along any career path.
in a bilingual country and an ever-more globalized world, knowledge of french as a second language gives students an edge in almost any field.
at the university of waterloo, students can choose language courses that range from basic to advanced, as well as a wide variety of courses in french linguistics, literature, culture, and civilization. students will learn from professors that include governor general prize-winners and world experts in french.
meanwhile, for students who are interested in gaining paid work experience through north america's largest co-op program, they can apply to honours arts co-op and choose french as their major at the end of first year
