Southampton Solent University’s applied computing top-up programme is ideally suited to students who want to upgrade their existing computing qualifications into a full honours degree. Students study intensively over one year to build the advanced programming, web development, systems analysis and networking skills required by graduate employers. Southampton Solent University’s applied computing curriculum focuses on building the practical skills and advanced understandings that modern IT employers require. Students study under the guidance of experienced academics who provide technical tuition alongside vital industry context. Students are able to tailor the programme to their personal career ambitions by choosing from a range of optional units. These optional units cover subjects including security management, mobile app development, network management, web design, human computer interaction and artificial intelligence for games. These optional units supplement a final research project, where students will conduct in-depth study into an area of their choice. The course also equips students with a range of transferable project management, problem solving and analytical skills. These skills can serve students well in a range of different careers.
