Progression Summary

This specialist programme has been designed to provide postgraduate education and training in advanced composites (such as those based on carbon fibre or aramid) and polymers, the course covers both the materials and their processing. Driven by our internationally recognised research, the course draws upon expertise within the school in areas such as 3D woven preforms (for use in the aerospace and other transportation sectors), polymers, nanocomposites and technical textiles. The course team has a wealth of industrial experience built from collaborations with key companies including Rolls Royce, Bombardier and Airbus. The course attracts both local and international full-time students together with part-time students from industry. Part-time students who are in full-time employment can obtain credit for work-based activity in the work-based learning modules.Upon successful completion of the programme students will be more employable, particularly within the industry. Another important opportunity for MSc graduates is to explore an academic and/or research career through a PhD programme such as those offered by the School of Engineering at Ulster which hosts the MSc programme. Professional Recognition - Accredited by Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
