3D Design & Animation is a programme that has developed from the emergent technologies of a continually evolving creative industry. The course encourages students to explore innovative and modernistic ideas whilst gaining blended skills in art, design and technology. . There will be a focus on the capture, creation and output of 3D digital models and environments, with particular focus on Virtual Reality platforms. With an emphasis on skills, the course focuses on the fundamentals of 3D design through a variety of practical projects that include 3D modelling, 3D animation, virtual reality and augmented reality; creating outcomes for a variety of contemporary platforms. The applications of skills are numerous, from creating assets for the video game industry and VFX to digital reconstruction for the heritage sector. Class sizes are small and tutor contact is second to none. The programme ensures that students develop a portfolio of 3D design work relevant to the industry. You can expect a varied programme of assignments that highlight the importance of technical skills within the industry.
