Progression Summary

This new programme aims to develop skills and attributes that are essential with the area of contemporary animation based on the needs of local, national and international industry. Providing a wide-ranging programme of skills delivery, professional development, exhibition practice, critical contextualisation and academic research, the programme offers students the opportunity to develop a refined vision of their practice. The programme is delivered through a range of studio-based practice, encouraging intensive exploration of processes and techniques, as well as specialist skills-based workshops, and regular tutorial and seminar sessions that foster a spirit of critical aesthetic and intellectual enquiry. The aim of the programme is to provide a structured three-year approach to the development of a sustainable, professional animation practice. Working with the school HE strategy of ‘Student as Producer’, the three-year programme is designed to incorporate key strands of professional development for practising artists, providing students with exposure to the processes, methods, and contexts of professional practice. Work-based projects are part of the course and previous placements and opportunities have included working with; Arcus Studios, After Midnight, Pictoplasma, Association of Illustrators, Channel 4, Sony Playstation, Sega, Orange, Kuro Dragon and Studio Moo. The course is designed for individuals that have a passion for creative arts and want to pursue a career within the sector. We are looking for motivated, interesting and informed applicants who embrace their subject and are willing to commit to a programme of study that will allow progression either in to employment or level 7 study. -
