Progression Summary

Learn about the ancient world and find ways to understand the foundations of how we live today. The ancient world has profoundly influenced subsequent generations of history, and studying antiquity offers you a way of understanding the foundations of today’s world. Our wide range of topics cover ancient Egypt to the rise of Islam in the Middle East. You can also explore what happened during the conquests of Alexander the Great, and at the end of the Roman Empire. Learn ancient history from experts on the ancient world (including history, archaeology, ancient and modern languages and literatures, philosophy and film). Gain experience of archaeological fieldwork and take part in study tours and you could also explore learning Latin. Our year abroad destinations include Europe, the United States, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea or Australia. Our digital humanities facilities will allow you to study and research through cutting-edge technology, such as virtual reality, 3D scanners and printers, and a 360 degree fully immersive audio-visual centre. Supported by an expert team, these technologies will enable you to start making and exploring in new and immersive ways. *Subject to programme review for September 2024 entry.
