Progression Summary

This is the perfect course if you wish to take a degree in science but are not sure of which path to follow. If you wish to take a degree in science but do not possess the qualifications or experience required for year 1 entry, this foundation entry year will help you achieve your goal. This is a one-year programme which provides guaranteed progression to a range of courses provided by a number of schools throughout the university. Once you are on the foundation course there is no need to make an additional application and there will be no interviews for entry to progress to year one of your chosen degree in the Faculty of Science & Technology (although entry requirements apply for degrees in the School of Pharmacy & Biomedical Science). Progression routes include the following: BSc (Hons) Archaeology BSc (Hons) Biology BSc (Hons) Chemistry MChem (Hons) Chemistry BSc (Hons) Environmental Science BSc (Hons) Forensic Science BSc (Hons) Forensic Science & Anthropology MSci (Hons) Forensic Science & Molecular Biology, MSci (Hons) Forensic Science & Chemical Analysis BSc (Hons) Geography, BSc (Hons) Neuroscience BSc (Hons) Policing (and similar) BSc (Hons) Psychology (and similar) BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science BSc (Hons) Physiology & Pharmacology The foundation entry year will provide you with an interesting and stimulating grounding in science and enable you to gain key practical skills in our modern, spacious and well-equipped laboratory facilities. The foundation year will give you the essential knowledge and understanding of theoretical and practical science skills to facilitate your study at degree level. It will support and encourage you to develop your critical thinking and will aim to give you the confidence and competence to apply a range of skills to subject related topics that will underpin your development towards university level study.
