Progression Summary

The Higher National Certificate in Animal Management, provides a good foundation for those students who have a real passion for working with animals and aims to prepare participants for employment at supervisory level jobs within the industry. The course is also well suited for those who currently work in the industry and would like to further develop their skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to progress within the sector. As a student on this course you will be responsible for the welfare of animals on the college animal care unit, to include those animals in our Blue Cross Rehoming Centre, Day Boarding Dog Kennels and livestock production area. This course combines lectures, group work, practical sessions and independent research. Throughout the course you will be applying your theoretical knowledge to practice both in group work and the work setting. You will be expected to undertake a work-placement as part of your studies. This will not only give you valuable experience, but can often lead directly to employment opportunities. The assessment for the course is through written assignments, presentations and practical assessments with each assessment demonstrating your application of theory. The academic staff on the programme have vocational experience and specialisms within Animal Management, making them ideally placed to help you apply theory to practice.
