Progression Summary

As a £1 billion industry with more than 13,000 businesses in the UK alone, there are so many employment opportunities in the sectors relating to animal management and science. This Foundation Degree enhances students' attractiveness to these employers by providing a broad case of skills and knowledge in key areas including animal biology, behaviour, welfare, health and nutrition. Alongside academic study, you'll learn the analytical and research skills required for further study, and you'll also undertake a work placement with an organisation dealing with wildlife, pets or livestock. The course covers the key theories and practices in animal management, from biology and behaviour to nutrition and welfare. You’ll also examine business case studies and data analysis. The programme also includes day trips to animal rescue and rehabilitation centres and longer residential visits at an additional expense. Students on this course recently visited Monkey World in Dorset and also spent time in London at the Natural History and Hunterian museums, for example. It is taught by our expert and experienced lecturers in the bespoke classrooms at Winter Gardens in the centre of Weston, with practical studies taking place at the brand new Animal Management Education Centre at Puxton Park. Students on this course can also take advantage of the learning and teaching facilities on offer in our new University Centre in the redeveloped Winter Gardens, which is on the seafront in the centre of Weston.
