Progression Summary
The MSc Accounting and Management is a new taught postgraduate programme offered by the School of Business and Management. This programme offers specialised, practical and theoretical education in the area of accounting and the management of resources. It is relevant to both corporate and public sectors and this programme will develop both your theoretical and practical knowledge of accounting and its role in recording and influencing the management of resources. This course will appeal to students who are interested in how accounting systems inform the management of corporate and non-corporate sector resources. Accounting information systems are placed at the centre of this course and students will be challenged to structure their critical thinking and analysis within a unique business models organising framework in a world that has become increasingly financialised. This course is founded upon a range of innovative, compulsory modules in which you will examine resource management in the context of today's challenging financial environment. Queen Mary's programme is distinctive from other Masters in Accounting and Management in that it: Will appeal to students who are interested in how Accounting systems inform the management of corporate and non-corporate resources Locates Accounting and Management of resources within a unique business models framework to explore how complex relations between resource management, stakeholders, financial outcomes and performance play out Will equip students with both a critical theoretical and practical knowledge of accounting in a variety of organisational settings Reflects challenges facing corporate and non-corporate spheres in a financialised world. Provides exemptions towards accounting qualifications offered by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Facilities Our PGT students will have swipe card access to the Innovation Pod, Think Pod, and the QUBE Mac Suite; all located on the Third floor of the Bancroft Building. The Think Pod is an interactive collaboration space with presentation, recording and video conferencing facilities. The Innovation Pod provides workspaces for individual learning. The QUBE Mac Suite is a workspace for student entrepreneurs providing 27-inch iMac computers with state-of- the art media creation and editing software. Students will have full access to the Management Schools resources including datasets and accounting resources relevant to this programme. Students will use QMplus (our online learning environment) to access their reading lists, lecture slides, discussion forums and assessment. On arrival students will have a bespoke induction programme of activities. You will also have access to Queen Mary’s comprehensive libraries, including the Postgraduate Reading Room, and The British Library can also be accessed as a research resource.
