Foundation Economics + Social Sciences

King's College London, University of London
Provided by: King’s College London

Program Summary

Economics uses methodologies from the social sciences, so combining modules in both subjects is an excellent way to strengthen your understanding of each one. When you study the foundation Economics module, you’ll learn how to understand fundamental economic theory and engage with the key criticism and debates surrounding it. By pairing this with the foundation Social Sciences module, you’ll also unlock your ability to understand human behaviour and society and conduct your own research. This combined knowledge means you’ll be able to use a range of social sciences, such as psychology and sociology, to understand how economics influences human behaviour and vice-versa. You’ll also get a deeper knowledge of how social, political, and psychological factors influence economic decisions, and you'll be able to explore issues like inequality, poverty, income growth and sustainability. You can apply this knowledge and your transferable skills to a range of roles, including as an economist, data scientist, market research analyst, investment analyst, stockbroker, and more. When you study social sciences and economics, you’ll also be eligible to apply for degrees in International Management, Business Management, Social Sciences and beyond. You will study a total of four modules and you will be allocated either one of English for Academic Purposes or Academic Expression & Critical Thinking plus the Society module. Take a look at the Economics module and Social Sciences module to see more details about what you will learn from each foundation module, and view the full list of relevant undergraduate degrees on the degree eligibility tab below.
