Foundation Business Management + Economics
Program Summary
Studying business management will give you an understanding of the business world and the environment in which it operates - in the UK and internationally. You’ll learn about marketing, finance, and human resource management, and you’ll develop the skills to evaluate business performance by analysing financial reports or applying a range of business theories and frameworks. When you combine this with the study of economics, you get a much broader understanding of key factors that impact a business because you’ll learn all about macroeconomics, microeconomics and basic economic theories. These two areas of study complement each other well, and an advanced understanding of both will help you analyse the costs, benefits and effects of government policies on business. You’ll develop strong analytical and presentational skills, work collaboratively with your peers, and start to build entrepreneurial skills. This combination of knowledge and skills is particularly appealing for roles in accounting and finance, business management, banking, insurance, civil service and beyond. When you study business management and economics, you also become eligible to apply for degrees in Business Management, International Management, Politics and Political Economy. You will study a total of four modules and you will be allocated either one of English for Academic Purposes or Academic Expression & Critical Thinking plus the Society module.
