Foundation Physics
Program Summary
Module group of: STEM & Natural Sciences Pathway If you decide to study the Physics module, you'll learn about the major physics topics required to progress to the undergraduate study of this subject. Specifically, you'll get an introduction to basic mechanics, waves, atomic and nuclear physics, the structure of matter, thermal physics and electromagnetism. And because this module is part of the STEM & Natural Sciences Pathway, you'll also take a core Mathematics module. This combination of subjects opens up a wealth of opportunity and degrees for you at King’s. Both modules are designed to allow you to explore your interests and develop your problem-solving skills in preparation for degrees in the physics, engineering, maths and computer sciences areas. Future career opportunities are wide-ranging and our graduates have gone on to be risk analysts, teachers, information security consultants, investment managers and more. In fact, if you choose to study physics and mathematics together, you’ll be eligible to apply for degrees including Natural Sciences, Physics with Astrophysics & Cosmology and Computer Science. You will study a total of four modules: Mathematics for Natural Sciences, Science & Society and you will be allocated either one of English for Scientific Academic Purposes or Academic Expression & Critical Thinking as listed in the 'Teaching & structure' tab on the STEM & Natural Sciences pathway page.
