Foundation Economics + Mathematics for Business & Economics
Program Summary
There are many ways that economics and mathematics overlap, so this is a natural module combination choice. For example, you’ll use mathematical skills and methodologies to analyse business performance and discover some real-world business case studies that bring mathematical concepts to life. Your Mathematics for Business and Economics module will introduce you to the major mathematics topics that you’ll need to understand if you want to study business and economics at a university level. Your Economics module will take this a step further by teaching you about macroeconomics and microeconomics. You’ll find out what influences the economic and social environment on the decision-making and behaviour of governments and organisations, become aware of the nature of economic systems, and get an introduction to the main theories of economic intervention strategies. This combination of subject knowledge is essential for a range of careers in business and finance, accounting, data analysis, research, and beyond. When you study economics alongside mathematics for business and economics, you’ll be eligible to apply for degrees in Accounting and Finance, Business Management and Economics, Mathematics with Statistics. You will study a total of four modules and you will be allocated either one of English for Academic Purposes or Academic Expression & Critical Thinking plus the Society module.
